Happy Birthday to my baby! (Baby blog that is!)
Woohoo! Today is the one year birthday of my little baby blog. I have no idea if anyone reads it aside from my mom (hi mom! maybe she doesn't even get the chance?), maybe dad (dad are you out there?), Mr. Wright (hi honey, thanks for encouraging me!), Eliza (I never get the chance to e-mail you so maybe you've forgotten about lil old me?) and my sister who is too busy gallivanting in Europe right now being a studious architecture student to read... (but hi Brooke, miss you!)... oh, and of course my pups who got me started.
I spent forever trying to think up names for the blog... I am not sure how I came up with what I did and sometimes I think it's too long, who knows what the future has in store for us right? I only wrote 126 posts in a year and I am going to try to make this year a little more fruitful post wise. And I haven't done much better this week. I have been so busy lately. Mostly cleaning and crafting. I never thought I'd say I was a crafter... I always thought it sounded lame- and there are so many UGLY crafts out there.... I don't want to make this if this is what crafting is considered (and in many people's minds when you think of crafts you think of ugly...)
I don't make dumb crafts... although whoever made that ugly gumball jar... they obviously didn't think it was dumb... now if a kid made it I would turn a blind eye- but this obviously used hot glue. What does hot glue have anything to do with it you may ask? Weeellll, a small child would not be allowed to use hot glue, and a kid who is old enough would know better. (Sometimes I think we get stupider as adults.) Because a kid certainly didn't decorate this house...
Okay, so obviously it's fake, but I would bet you $100 that someone out there's house is like this nightmare, but worse. Yup, worse. There are some people with bad taste out there. Oh yeah, this had a point didn't it? Sorry about the tangent!
I have been busy of cleaning, crafting, etc. but I have been a little overwhelmed because I got a promotion at work. I know, go me! It's not a promotion with a raise, and it's only a six month promotion, but I am pretty psyched. So in my mind I have been overwhelmed even though it hasn't even started yet. I have been trying to make decorations for Halloween... and Fall in general... plan Christmas gifts, etc. and I have been falling behind. I have been meaning to e-mail people I haven't spoken to in awhile and I have been relatively disconnected from everything... I have just been exhausted.
Halloween is right around the corner and I hate that we can never get something together with people as far as costumes go. I had wanted to go as the Jetsons, or Flintstones with another couple but it was expensive to buy the costumes and I would have made them but we never did anything definitive to get the plan ironed out.
Then I wanted to go as the Golden Girls...
...it would have been awesome. Hilarious. Easy. (Except for the wigs.) I was super excited- I even had dreams about how awesome we would be. I mean who doesn't know the Golden Girls?
"Thank you for being a friend...
traveling down that road and back again,
your heart is true,
you're a pal and a confidant."
But that idea never got afloat. Then I said we could be Dog the Bounty Hunter and family.
It would be the only time in my life that I would get to have a size M cup. (Yes, I looked up their size. According to chacha.com she's an M. What? You've never heard of chacha.com? Yeah me either.) But that idea didn't work out either. So I dug out my old pirate costume (which is awesome) and bought Mr. Wright a pirate costume too.
The last time I was a pirate I made him dress up like my parrot... he got made fun of- I'll let him be a man this time. (Although my homemade parrot costume was a-w-e-s-o-m-e and creative!)
The front (without his beak and head on...)
The back... (pretty good for a grown up with a hot glue gun only at that time...)
And last, with Alley... my New England partner in crime (that abandoned me here... :( )
One of these days we'll do a brief history of my Halloween costume past, I love Halloween!
But anyway, thank you for being a friend and a reader... and even a pal and a confidant! (And for putting up with me!)
Oh, and a special thanks to regresty for the ugly craft pictures!
Great page, I especially love the Gumball art and the Golden Girl songs. Sing'thank you for being a friend, travel down the road and back again, End scene!! Ha!
